2021 Yamaha Y16ZR Moped launched in Malaysian Market, which shares the underpins with Indian market YZF R15 V3 motorcycle.

The Yamaha R15 V3’s platform is extremely capable of making decent bikes, especially the Japanese two-wheeler maker has introduced the range of motorcycles using this platform. Yamaha has introduced the Moped bike using this platform in the Malaysian market. Yamaha has equipped the moped with Full-LED lighting along with LCD instrument information cluster, like speed, rpm, operational gear, VVA activation, and so on. The Yamaha Y16ZR has also got a 12V charging socket and Yamaha smart lock with call function and immobilizer, and a 5.4 Litre Fuel tank.

Yamaha Y16ZR price starting from RM 10,888 converted into INR Rs 1.92 lakh. Yamaha has launched this Moped in Vietnam in December last year, named as Exciter. This Moped has a lighter frame as compared with Y15ZR. The frame is 1.5 mm thicker. Providing increased ride stability at higher speeds. The bike rides on conventional telescopic front forks suspension at the front and mono-shock preload adjustable suspension at the rear. The braking duties performed by a two-piston brake caliper and a single disc brake at the front wheel. The Y16ZR is offered in three colour schemes, phantom grey, Arrow blue, and raging yellow. Also, to attract customers the first 5,000 customers get a personalized owner’s named pouch.

Yamaha Y16ZR powered by a 155 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which also uses on the Indian YZF R15 V3 bike in India. The engine is capable of developing maximum power output of 17.5 HP at 9,500 Rpm and 14.4 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 Rpm. The transmission duties performed by a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. As of now, it is not expected that Yamaha could bring this Moped bike to the Indian market. While the brand could bring the max-Scooter NMax 155, which built on the same platform as YZF R15 V3 and uses the same 155 ccs single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine.
