German automaker Volkswagen has launched the final polo legend edition in the Indian market with a starting price of ₹10.25 Lakh as the final edition of the hatchback before it gets discontinued.
Ever since Volkswagen India officially debuted the Virtus sedan to replace the Volkswagen Vento reports about polo being discontinued or markets have emerged on the Internet. Now Volkswagen has introduced the legend edition of polo in India which marks the end of the hatchbacks era for the Volkswagen run in India. It’s now official that the Volkswagen hatchback polo leaving the Indian market for some time before its new update or generation launch.
The legendary or legend edition of polo has the same design as the standard version but with some graphics on the exterior. The hatchback also gets a black garnish on the roof-mounted spoiler and the roof is blacked out as well. Also, there is a legend badge near both front fenders to market the special edition version. Mechanically the hatchback is the same as the GT TSI variant. Volkswagen Polo legend edition is available with one liter turbocharged inline 3 cylinder engine with developing 110 HP of maximum power and 175 Nm of peak torque. It comes coupled with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission only no manual transmission is offered.
Volkswagen had entered the production of polo in India back in 2009 and it went on sale in early 2010. The hatchback has been a few minor cosmetic updates over the year. The design has started to show its age, especially in the cabin but the polo still manages to look quite classy and gain some sales. However, it has seen plenty of changes under the hood since its launch.

After BS6 emission norms came to effect Volkswagen polo had a diesel engine option on offer as well. In 2013 the manufacturer had introduced a crossover version known as polo cross which at higher ground clearance plastic cladding all around but it didn’t get on sale for long.
Reports suggested that Volkswagen considering the latest generation of polo for the Indian market. Some reports suggested performance spec Polo GTI could be bought in India through CBU import while a few other reports suggest the standard new-generation polo could enter production in India is found to be feasible.
