Tata Motors currently leading the EV segment of the Indian market with their Nexon EV and Tigor EV. A recent latest test model of the upcoming Altroz EV was spotted testing on Indian roads.
Altroz DCA is now being launched it is not clear what Tata is testing as it is speculated that the test mule could be an EV which could be launched later this year. The electric hatchback was spotted on NH 48 and it is expected to come with the same ziptron technology that Tata motor uses in Tigor EV ad Nexon EV. Tata is expected to launch the electric hatchback competitive in the Indian market. In the previous media reports, it was expected that Altroz EV will be launched with a claimed mileage or driving range of 500 kilometers. This is possible because of the additional battery pack and architecture on which the hatchback is based on.

Although considering the SUVs are the new trend in the Indian market Tata Motors might launch punch EV first in India followed by Altroz EV which is the premium hatchback. The Home-Grown manufacturer will be unveiling a new electric vehicle on 29th April and it is yet to be known what Tata Motors is planning. Apart from that Tata Motors also planning to launch the long-range version of the Nexon EV in India.
The current Nexon EV will be sold alongside the long-range version so people who are buying electric vehicles foremost for daily commute will get the regular current EV whereas people who want to use the vehicle for longer range can get the long-range model. Cosmetically it won’t be much different from the current version however there could be a mechanical upgrade for the long-range. Current Nexon EV comes with a 30.2-kilowatt-hour battery pack whereas the long-range version could come with 40 Kilowatt battery pack.
The claimed driving range for the current Nexon is 312 kilometers and it is expected to jump up to 400 kilometers with a long-range version. The real-life driving range of the EVs is around 200 to 250 kilometers and this will increase to up to 300 kilometers which will help people in doing long tours. We do not know whether the long-range was will be more powerful or not but the current Nexon, as the current version produces 129 HP of maximum power and 245 Nm torque. Tata does offer an 8-year warranty on the battery pack and it will also have IP 67 water and dust resistance.
