The transport minister urges the head of Tesla Motors India to build their cars in Indi for lowering the production cost.

Road transport and Highway minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari in the recent conference has made a proposal to the Head of Tesla Motors, to do their whole production of electric vehicles in India, for lowering down production costs. It means Tesla to produce every product of the Vehicle domestically rather than just assembling them here. The union minister also offers incentives to the electric car maker in order to bring down the cost of production in India lower than the currently offered to American EV maker in China. In an Interview, Gadkari said, “Rather than assembling the car in India they should build the entire product in the country with the help of local Vendors. Then we can give out higher concessions”.
However, Mr. Nitin Gadkari didn’t release any offers and incentive details. He also assured the EV giant that if they do a production of their cars in India, they will have the lowest production cost compared to the entire world. Tesla Inc. EV giant is all set to start its operations in India soon, and the company has already registered its office in Bangalore. The First model from tesla is their sedan Model 3, which will be launching in Mid-2021. As of now, the vehicle could be imported from the Tesla china plant, Gigafactory in shanghais through the CBU route initially.
Tesla Model 3 offered in three different powertrains namely as Standard plus, performance, and long-range. The Standard variant offers in rear-wheel-drive configuration along with a single electric motor. On the other hand, long-range and performance offers dual electric motor set up with All-wheel drive configuration. As per reports tesla Model 3 Standard plus variant will be introduced initially following by higher variants in the future. Pricing may start from Rs 60 lakhs (ex-showroom) onwards, however, the official price hasn’t revealed yet from the company.
