March has been a great month for Toyota with the carmakers achieving an all-time high sale of about 15,000 units for the month of March. To be precise the Japanese car made an exact sale of 14,997 units for March 2021 compared to 7,023 units sale in March 2020, which sums up to be YoY growth of 114% and an MoM growth of 6.4% of 14,075 units.
Toyota Innova Crysta made the number 1 car on this list by selling a total of 5,743 units last month compared to the sale of 3,810 units sale in the same time period and recording YoY growth of 51%. Almost all the cars in this list have succeeded in getting a positive YoY growth, however the last year’s sales with highly affected by the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
At the number 2 spot, we have the recent late last year’s entry the Toyota Urban Cruiser which is also a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza that has been introduced by the company to solely boost the sales of the more affordable range of the company, hence the car performed its desired task and sold a total of 3,162 units for last month and is assumed to even go higher as the year moves further.
At the number 3 spot, we have the Toyota Glanza which is also is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. As expected by a Maruti Suzuki rebadged car the Glanza also performed fairly good and sold 2,989 units compared to last year March sale of 1,533 units and recoded an impressive YoY growth of 95%. Next in line we have the recently introduced Toyota Fortuner which was launched in January 2021 and even being about Rs. 30 lakhs on road the car still manages to sell over 2,136 units compared to last year sale for an older version of Fortuner that made a sale of 1,100 units at the same period.
Next, we have the affordable sedan Yaris selling over 871 units and recording a YoY sale growth of 105%. After which we have the last 2 entries of Toyota Vellfire and Camry selling which were the only ones with an overall negative sales chart, the Vellfire recorded a negativize sale de-growth of 32% while the Camry recorded a negative sales growth of 48%.
