As the mainstream automaker in the Indian market going towards the greener source of energy in Automobiles many new buyers looking forward to bring the EV into its daily life schedule. Currently, in the budget electric vehicles segment, we have only three EVs on sale in the Indian market. Starting with the most affordable EV from homegrown manufacturer tata. Last month, once again tata Nexon EV leading the EV space as it sold 650 units in June 2021. While, since its launch in India it has been sold over 4,000 units from January 2020.
Meanwhile, last year launch by Chinese car manufacturer Morris Garages MG has launched its first EV in India named MG ZS EV. Although in the international markets MG sold ZS with an internal combustion engine. MG dispatched 250 units of ZS EV last month, as it has more than 400 units difference with Nexon EV. The main reason the Nexon EV perform extremely well in the Indian market is its price band. Tata retails Nexon EV with a starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh, which goes up to Rs 16.65 lakh ex-showroom.
While for the MG ZS EV the price ranges between Rs 20.99 lakh to Rs 24.18 lakh ex-showroom. Now, the third affordable EV in India comes from a Korean manufacturing brand Hyundai. Hyundai Kona EV was the first electric-powered vehicle to go on sale In India. Although, the price band in which Hyundai launched Kona EV is way too much high in comparison with other EVs. That being said in June 2021 Hyundai only dispatched just 7 units and finished at the third spot in the monthly EV sales list. The Kona EV comes powered by a 39.2 KW battery pack and has a claimed ARAI tested driving range of 452 Km.
