A range of all-wheel drive and 4×4 SUVs are expected to be launching in the next few months. While growing SUVs trend in the Indian market brings a lot of new off-roader and affordable SUVs in India. But some SUVs are coming with a two-wheel-drive configuration and don’t live up to their basic principle of true SUV. However, here we put together the Top 5 upcoming 4×4 SUVs in the domestic market: –
- Mahindra XUV700
Just a few weeks back, the homegrown manufacturer Mahindra released a statement revealing that they are going to introduce a new Mid-Size SUV named XUV700 in the Indian market, which will be launched as the replacement of the ongoing XUV500. The SUV will directly rival cars like the tata safari, MG Hector plus, and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar. The SUV will be offered with 6- and 7- seater configurations, with an All-wheel drive configuration. The petrol and diesel powertrain could be offered with manual as well as automatic transmission option. The XUV700 will be launching in July 2021.
- Next-Gen Mahindra Scorpio
Another Mahindra SUV getting a generation update soon is the Iconic Scorpio. The car will go on the floor at the end of this year itself. The Next-Gen Scorpio was spied many times since last year revealing many features and equipment, including a digital instrument cluster, a bigger infotainment screen, glossy black center console, blacked 17-inch multi spokes alloy wheel, and so on. The SUV is likely to be powered with 2.2 Liter mHawk diesel and a 2.0 Liter mStallion TGDI Turbo petrol engine, which also is used in Mahindra Thar as well. Also, the car could also get the optional 4×4 configuration with the new generation as before.
Maruti Suzuki India has confirmed that the manufacturer is introducing the 5-door version of Jimny in the Indian market by the end of this year or in early 2022. It was also being reported that the 3-door version Jimny will also get the mid-life update with some cosmetic upgrades and the same can be seen in the 5-door version as well. From the last year, the 7-seater Jeep compass test mules have been spotted many times, and it is also unofficially revealed that the 3-row version of Compass is coming in India, along with the same equipment as we see in the 5-Seater version. The SUV name hasn’t been revealed yet but the speculations suggest that it could be named ‘Commander”. The Commander could get the more powerful diesel and petrol powertrain compared with the 5-Seater version, so it could rival SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4, and MG Gloster. Also, Commander could be offered with optional 4×4 set up just like 5-Seater Compass.
