As every automaker has released their sales number for March 2022 here, we bring you the top 10 hatchbacks sold last month.
In March 2022 Maruti Suzuki recorded an accumulative domestic tally of 24,634 units with the WagonR and it was the most sold hatchback in the domestic market. The hatch posted 18,757 units in March 2021 giving a year-on-year volume sales growth of 31%. The premium hatchback Baleno dispatched 14,520 units last month and when compared to the same 12 months back it registered 21,217 units with year-on-year sales by Degrowth of 32%.

3rd position in the list was taken by another Maruti Suzuki hatchback swift as it sold 13,623 units against 21,740 units in March 2021 with year-on-year negative sales growth of 37%. 4th position is taken by Korean manufacturer hatchback grand I10 Nios which direct rivals with Maruti swift. The hatchback from Korea finished in 4th position with 9687 units sold against 11,020 units during the same period last year with year-on-year sales declining by 12%.

At the 5th position another Maruti hatchback S-Press with 7870 units against 7252 units with year-on-year sales growth of 9%. In the second half of the table, the 6 positions are taken by another Maruti Suzuki hatchback Alto which is the entry-level model. It posted 7621 units as against the 17,401 units with a year-on-year drop of 56%. Although the new generation also is expected to go on sale later or early in 2023 and it has been already spotted many times on the Indian roads.

The last year launched second-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio posted at 7th position with 6442 units against 4720 units in March 2021 with year-on-year sales growth of 36%. The Tata premium hatchback Altroz finished at 8th position with 4727 units as against 7550 units with year-on-year negative sales growth of 37%. 9th and 10th position is taken by Hyundai I20 and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. The former posted 4693 units and the latter posted 4472 units.
