Hyundai has recently unveiled its production-ready version of its upcoming three-row SUV based on the Hyundai Creta platform. The car is set to launch at the start of May but due to the second wave in India, the launch has been postponed for the end of May. The 3-row version of Creta is called Alcazar, which will be positioned above Creta and below Tucson. A host of new three-row SUVs launched in the Indian market in recent times, which gives a tough competition to upcoming Alcazar. We put together the detailed specifications comparison between Tata safari vs Hyundai Alcazar its biggest rival: –

Hyundai hasn’t revealed the dimensions of the Alcazar, although they revealed that the SUV will have a 2760 mm wheelbase. That being said it is 150 mm longer than Creta, and Alcazar has the longest wheelbase in the 3-row SUV segment. Just like safari, Alcazar is also offered with 6- and 7-seater configurations. Tata Safari measures 4661 mm in length, 1894 mm in width, 1786 mm tall, and has a 2741 mm wheelbase, which is 18 mm smaller than Alcazar.

Powering the Hyundai Alcazar will be two power trains 1.5 L diesel engine and 2.0 Litre NA petrol engine. The Former rated at 115PS/250Nm, while the latter belts out 159PS/192Nm. Each powertrain comes paired with 6-MT and 6-AT.
While on another hand Tata safari comes with a sole FCA sourced 2.0 Litre Diesel engine which belts out 170PS/350Nm, with the same transmission option as Alcazar.

- Features and safety
Tata safari gets tons of features like, 8.8-inch floating infotainment system that supports android auto and apple car play, fast-charging USB ports, connected car technology, a 7-inch instrument cluster, an Auto-Dimming IRVM, electronic parking brake, a panoramic sunroof, JBL audio system, a powered adjustable driver and passenger seats, and so on. On the safety side it gets, ABS with EBD, 6-Airbags, traction control, Hill hold assists, Hill-start, ESP, rollover mitigation as standard, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, and so on.

On the other hand, Alcazar features list doesn’t reveal yet but it is likely to offer the same as in New-Gen Hyundai Creta – a 10.25-inch infotainment system that supports android auto and apple car play, 360-degree camera, Hyundai connected car technology, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and so on. On the safety front, it could comprise, 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, drive modes, electronic parking, hill descent assist, and more.
- Pricing
Hyundai is yet to revealed the detailed pricing and variants of Alcazar, but expected to be priced more premium in comparison with Hyundai Creta. Currently, Hyundai retails Creta with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh, which goes up to Rs 17.53 lakh ex-showroom.
While Tata retails Safari with a starting price of Rs 14.69 lakh for base variant and Rs 21.45 lakh for Top-end Spec variant(ex-showroom).

- Comparison verdict
Hyundai Alcazar’s price band is likely to be lower than Tata safari, while the safari offered a more powerful engine compared with Alcazar and more safety features a well. Although, Hyundai Alcazar is one up to Tata car as it also offers a petrol powertrain.
