When we speak of the EV car in India, the first car that comes to our mind is the Nexon EV, which is also the top-selling EV in the Indian market. The Nexon EV has received great praise from the audience as well as the critics, but is not everything is top-notch with this popular EV car. here is a list of Tata Nexon EV 5 God and Not so Good things that everyone should know before buying this car.
S.no. | Good | Not so Good |
1. | Stylish Design | Inaccurate Real-world range |
2. | Feature rich | Bad Charging Speed |
3. | Performance | Free Spin |
4. | Safety Rating | Lack of safety features |
5. | Pocket friendly price | Degraded Top Speed |
Starting with all the good things present in the car.
- Stylish Design
The Nexon is a greatly praised car for its design, and with the car getting a mild facelift last year that adds up to the looks, however, this facelift was for the internal Combustion engine variant, but the EV model is based on the facelift version so the Nexon EV enjoys the same design treatment.
- Feature Rich
The Nexon EV is loaded with a plethora of features, like the electric sunroof, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, large infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and 35 other connected car features and many more features like that.
- Performance
The Nexon EV’s electric motor makes the car perform magnificently, this motor provides a power of 129 PS and a max torque of 245 Nm, which can make the car sprint from 0-100 kph in below 10 seconds.
- Safety Rating
Being a Tata car the Nexon enjoys a more than efficient safety rating of 5-star at the Global NCAP. However, the car tested is the ICE unit, but both the car being made on the same platform and the material will be performing pretty similar.
- Pocket friendly Price
The Tata Nexon EV is the most affordable EV in the Indian market as of now, which is being offered with a starting price of Rs. 13.99 lakh for the base variant, other than that, the Nexon EV is also available in 2 other variants, the XZ Plus and XZ Plus Lux.

Now coming at the Not so Good part of the Nexon EV
- Inaccurate Real-World range
The Tata Nexon EV is offered with a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a 3-phase synchronous motor that provides ARAI certified range of 312 km, however, nothing is that simple, most of the user claims the real-world ranges from 190-250 which can be considered normal, but some have even complained that their range hasn’t even been till 180 km, even with following all commands given by the dealership.
- Bad Charging Speed
The Nexon EV can be charged in only 60 from 0-80% but, only via a DC charger. The normal portable 3.3 kWh AC charger will take a tedious 8.5 hr to charge your car from 10-90%.
- Free Spin
Free Spin or Wheel Spin of the Tata Nexon EV is quite high as the time between the accelerator pedal press and the power output to the wheel is very-very small and this sometimes can through the driver out of balance or make the tires screech making everyone around you alarmed.
- Lack of safety features
Even though the car has a 5-star rating on Global NCAP, but lack certain features like ESP and traction control, both of them however are present in the ICE version.
- Degraded Top Speed
Even though the car is powered at 129 PS and can sprint from 0-100 in below 10 seconds the Top speed of the car is kept quite low, which maxes out at 120 kmph. This top speed might now be a problem in major cities but this might struggle on broad Highways.
