Skoda Kushaq Mid-Size SUV from the Crenzh republic brand has been launched in India, priced starting from Rs 10.50 lakh.

Skoda and Volkswagen Auto India have launched the first SUV from the heavily localized India-specific MQB A0 IN platform. In the joint venture, it spends over 1 billion euros on the Volkswagen 2.0 India, in which they spend the money in researching and developing the right platform for the Indian market, in the span of 2019 to 2021. The first product from the platform, Kushaq has been launched in the Indian market priced between Rs 10.50 lakh for the base trim and Rs 17.60 lakh for the top-end trim. The Skoda Kushaq will rival the Mid-Size SUV segment king Hyundai Creta and it is interesting to see how things will work out for the brand.

Skoda Kushaq offered in three variants and in seven trims line in India. The entry-level Active 1.0 Litre TSI manual transmission gearbox and the top-end trim Style 1.5 liter DSG petrol engine. The Mid-Size SUV was first introduced back in the 2020 Auto Expo named VISION IN. The manufacturing and the production of the SUV will be done at the Chakan plant near Pune, Maharashtra. The SUV is built on a 95 percent localized platform, which further shares its underpinnings with Volkswagen Taigun.

As for the performance, the SUV comes powered by two engine options – a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which belts out 115 PS of maximum power and 175 Nm of peak torque. The second is a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which develops 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. Both the powertrain comes coupled with standard 6-speed manual transmission and an optional automatic gearbox system.
