The new Skoda Kushaq launch as been in the news for quite a long time with many leaks about the car to date. Although, the car was showcased in the Auto Expo 2020 as a concept, the exterior and interior features which will be staying and which will not, is still unknown. But as recently announced by the company the wait for its launch will be over on 18th March 2021 followed by its price reveal in a few weeks after the launch.
Skoda invited few journalists to review their final production-ready Kushaq and from what they can say is the final product will resemble the concept quite closely which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. Talking about its design the car is built on an MQB A0 IN architecture platform and will be sized similar to its segment rivals but the car has a longer wheelbase than the majority of them. The Skoda Kushaq carries the signature chrome Skoda grille, split headlamps, large air damps, a new designed sporty looking bumper, a uniquely designed front skid plate, pair of roof rails, chrome lining for the windows, thick cladding, and machined diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Skoda Kushaq engine options and rivals
The new Skoda Kushaq will be available in 2 engine options, first being the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 110hp of power, coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter and second being the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine producing upto 150hp of power, coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission. The Skoda Kushaq will be entering the Indian market in the most competitive segment of mid-size SUVs where it will be competing against the likes of some best selling SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Nissan Kicks, and the car which will be launching later this year Volkswagen Taigun.
