Renault has started to deliver its recently launched compact SUV Renault Kiger. The Kiger is the cheapest SUV that the company has to offer which ranges from Rs 5.45 lakh for its base XE variant to Rs 9.72 lakh for its top end turbo variant (*ex-showroom). Renault claims that the company has delivered 1,100 units since the price reveal of the Kiger.

Renault Kiger deliveries may suffer due to its exceeding waiting period which mostly concerns the automatic transmission variants. As told by some dealerships the two major selling variants include the Kiger AMT version pricing around Rs 6.59 to Rs 8.00 lakh which has a waiting period of 1 month in most cities, while the Kiger CVT variant is in more demand which is priced between Rs 8.66 to Rs 9.55 lakh and has a waiting period of two to three months. However, the reason for this increasing waiting period can be the shortage of CVT gearboxes imported from japan, as the same gearbox is also used in the Nissan Magnite because both the cars are based on the same platform which is the CMF-A platform.

The reason for the Renault Kiger to become a success for the company is due to basically two reason first being the aggressive price that the car is launched at, which also makes the car the most affordable compact SUV replacing the Nissan Magnite by Rs 4,000 margin. And the second reason for its success is its segment compact SUV which is retailed at the price of a hatchback. Further talking about its powertrain options which comes in 2 variations – the 1.0 litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 1.0 litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Both the engines are mated with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission gearbox.

As the Renault Kiger entered the most aggressive segment it will be competing against the likes of Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.
