Renaults Motors India has announced its overall sales figures for the month of May 2021 for the Indian market. The company dispatched just 2,620 units last month, which resulted in 49.46 percent positive sales growth on a YOY basis. In May 2020, Renault’s India monthly sales stood at 1,753 units only, and at that time the manufacturer offers only three models in the Indian market. Although. When we compared the sales data on a Month-on-month basis the story turns out to be different as the brand manages to sell 8,642 units in April 2021, which translates to a negative sales growth of 69.68 percent on a MOM basis. Renault recently enters the compact SUV space named Kiger and since the launch, the SUV is performing well in terms of sales, and well-liked by Indian customers courtesy of its affordable price tag.

However, it should be noted that the country is facing another wave of virus, which makes many state governments go through varying degrees of lockdown last month. That being said, due to the health crisis the sales volume has gone down for every sector in India along with automobiles. Not just Renault India, may other bigger production house like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, tata is also going through and posted a sales decline on MOM basis in May 2021. Also, Renault India’s market share has been dropping from 4.8 percent in May 2020, to 2.5 percent market share in May 2021, which resulted in a drop of 2.3 percent on a YOY basis. While Renault flagship SUV Duster will undergo a generation update late this year, and as per reports the manufacturer also planning to launch the 7-seater version of Duster next year.

ENtry level Kwid

Renaults India has currently offered four products in the Indian line-up, which include Kwid, Kiger, Triber, and duster. This Renault Kwid is the entry-level hatchback and one of the most affordable cars offering in the Indian market. Renault retails Kwid with a base price of Rs 3.18 lakh ex-showroom. Next up is Renault Kiger which was launched just a few months back, and well accepted by the customers in India. The compact SUV shares its underpinnings with its cousin brand Nissan Magnite and bigger sibling Triber. It is sold with a price tag of Rs 5.45 lakh ex-showroom, as the most affordable Compact-SUV in India. As for Triber MPV, it is priced from Rs 5.30 lakh to Rs 7.82 lakh, and the Mid-Size SUV Duster has priced between Rs 9.73 lakh to Rs 14.12 lakh ex-showroom.
