As almost every car manufacturer revealed their sale figures for September 2021, we put together the overall Market share of brands for the month.
- Maruti Suzuki saw a huge drop in share from 50.5% to 33.9%
- Hyundai held its second position with 17.8% market Share
- Tata motors seen a huge Jump from 7.2% to 13.8% in market share for last month
The Indian automobile market still moving slowly from the post-Covid health crisis ahead of the festive season next month. Things seem to go very slow in India and many other global markets due to a major shortage of semiconductor chips at a global level. As for last month, almost every car manufacturer in India gets a sales decline om month on month basis and year on year basis as well. While some automakers saw positive growth on a year-on-year basis like Nissan, tata, Renault, and many others. However, if we saw a market share of the manufacturer for last month it also gets negative growth for some top manufacturers and positive growth for some.

Starting with the biggest manufacturer in India Maruti Suzuki a giant automaker saw a huge drop in its market share. It goes from 50.5 percent share back in September 2020 to just 33.9 percent market share in September 2021. The second slot is held by Hyundai Motors India Limited which saw a 0.6 percent increment in market share. It goes from 17.2% back in September 2020 to 17.8% share in last month. Tata Motors brilliant automaker gets a huge jump from 7. % Share to 13.8% market share for last month. Kia India took the fourth position with a market share of 7.8 percent followed by the fifth spot taken by UV specialists Mahindra at 7.0 percent share. Toyota Kirloskar Motor India slotted at sixth position with market share at 5.0 percent for last month.
Renault and Honda registered at seventh and eighth position with a market share of 3.9% and 3.6% respectively. MG Motor and Skoda India slotted at ninth and tenth rank with the same 1.7% market share in September 2021. Nissan managed to jump up to have a 1.5% share and finished at the eleventh position, courtesy of the newest edition Magnite. Twelve positions is held by German manufacture Volkswagen with a 1.4% share. Next in line is jeep India with just 0.2 percent market share. Citroen the French manufacturer only manages to get a small portion of 0.04 % in September 2021. Although, Citroen only has C5 Aircross in India and planning to launch a new compact SUV C3 in India. Last is Ford with 0% share as they quitted India and will come back in future with CBU luxury imported vehicles only.
