Nissan Magnite caught up in an accident and the Nissan Service centers quoted estimated repair costs of more than the total valuation of the car.

Nissan’s latest entry to the Sub-4m compact SUV segment Magnite, which was launched at the end of last year, with a very aggressive introductory price range.  A Nissan Magnite owner from Andhra Pradesh bought the turbo XV premium CVT variant recently, and he was later caught up in a major accident with the Andhra Pradesh RTC State bus and got heavily injured. After spending a week in the hospital, the owner comes back home and shocked to hear that the Nissan service center quote the repair costs for his Magnite to more than Rs 20 lakh, which is double the amount of the buying costs.

The Magnite was heavily damaged as you can see in the images, the front end taking all the impact and drastically destroyed completely. Although, the owner has survived the impact, courtesy of the 4-Star ASEAN NCAP crash safety rating, even though the front has made up of more low-grade plastic. While, nothing could justify the quoted repair costs made by the service center, as the whole spare parts list was emailed to the owner costing more than Rs 20 lakhs, and asked to pay the 1 percent of the amount to get the gate pass generated and it would come around Rs 20,000. The SUV was parked in the parking lot and not taken into the workshops for diagnosis of the wreckage.

The car was considered a total loss as the repair costs exceed 75 percent of the insured declared value. While the Magnite is the most affordable Sub-4m compact SUV in the Indian market. Currently, Nissan retails Magnite with a starting price of Rs 5.59 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.90 lakhs ex-showroom, New Delhi. As for the performance, the SV comes powered with two engine options, a 1.0 Litre NA petrol engine which develops 71 HP of power and 96 Nm of torque. And 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which rated at 99HP/160Nm. The powertrain comes mated with standard 5-speed MT or an optional CVT only with a Turbo engine.
