The biggest question right now in minds of the people willing to buy a car in the range of Rs 5–10 lakh is, what segment to go for? Should we go for the premium Hatchback or the Compact SUV? And with companies giving everything that they can at such price, this question becomes more complex. So, to ease up your difficulty we bring you a detailed comparison regarding the best value for money in this segment, a comparison between the Nissan Magnite and the Hyundai i20 2020.

The first thing that comes in our mind when selecting a car is the budget till which you can afford a car. Price for the based variant of the Hyundai i20 varies from Rs 7.75* lakh for the petrol base variant to Rs 13.12* lakh for Asta Opt Turbo DCT petrol Top model here the new i20 comes in 4 different variants based on its feature namely: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). Whereas the Nissan Magnite starts at Rs 6.04* lakh for base XE model and Rs 11.09* for the Turbo XV CVT model including tech pack and here the Magnite comes in 5 different variants based on the features XE, XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O).

Dimension and design

Here is the comparison is futile as both the cars are in a different segment, the i20 being a premium hatchback and the Nissan Magnite being a compact SUV. Here the choice of the design comes down to the buyer’s preference if he wants a hatchback or an SUV its all up to their choice. Although, the dimensions of each of these cars are quite comparable.

 Hyundai i20Nissan Magnite
Length (mm)39953994
Breath (mm)17751758
Height (mm)15051572
Boot space (litre)311336
Wheel Base (mm)25802500
Ground Clearance (mm)170205

Here both the cars are evenly matched in terms of their dimensions, however being an SUV the Magnite has its own perks of having a bigger height, better ground clearance for the Indian roads and bigger boot space.

The exterior was solely dependent on the buyer’s preference where he prefers the hatchback or the SUV but the interior of the car is altogether a different game. Both the cars have quite comparable interiors, the Magnite having a simple plain black interior which somewhat looks a bit dull to the eyes, due to the use of plastic in many parts, on the other hand, the i20’s interior looks more premium or polished, with the chrome accents and an appealing sleek-looking dashboard with a dual-tone interior option. Here the clear winner comes out to be the new 3rd generation Hyundai i20.
