In a time where the majority of the sedan are underperforming or are being removed completely from the company’s lineup, Kia has unveiled its new upcoming 2021 Kia K9 sedan, in the hopes of recovering some strength. The carmaker has already announced its discontinuation of the ongoing K900 and K8 from the United States of America markets, the reason being given of poor sales by both the cars.

Talking about the new 2021 Kia K9’s facelift, which although is a mid-cycle update but does pack some major exterior design changes. The photos which were released of the car in the home South Korean market showcases all the new design attributes of the car. The flagship sedan here now comes with some major front facia changes like the new hexagonal front grille which is outlined by a chrome lining and with some other chrome inserts, a sharper and sleeker headlamp setup that also embeds the strip of LED DRLs, other than that the bumper is also slightly tweaked and now comes with a wide air intake vent which runs from one edge to the other.

To improve the rear of the premium sedan the taillights now also run all along with the gate from one end to another, a dual exhaust setup is also provided for the car with chrome tips at the end. Some other design features like shark fin antenna and 19-inch alloy wheels still remain the same.

For the powertrain, there might be some chances that the car will also be available as a 4×4 wheel drive option however, that will only be for the top trims. While the engine will be available in 3 different option, the first being the 3.3-litre V6 T-GDi diesel engine which will be capable of producing a max power of 370 PS and a torque of 510 Nm, secondly a 3.8-litre NA V6 petrol engine generating 315 PS of max power with 397 Nm of max torque. And lastly, the 5.0-litre V8 engine generating 425 PS of max power with 520 Nm of optimum torque, and these all engine will be coupled with a standard 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox as standard.
