MG motors the abbreviation of Morris Garages motors is a formerly British owned company which is now a subsidiary of the Shanghai-based China-owned company SAIC motors. MG motors currently garner only the SUV based audience with its product like the Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster and the battery-powered car ZS EV. And to expand this current line-up the company is planning to introduce another SUV which can also be deemed as the petrol version of the ZS which will be launching in the third quarter of this year. And as going by the news this new car will not only have a separate name from the MG ZS petrol but will also be priced below the Hector with a slightly shorter length.
The production-ready MG ZS petrol variant code-named Model K will have an all in all different name from its other counterparts. And as for the dimension, the MG ZS petrol will be available in 4.3m length which is slightly shorter than the MG hector’s 4.6m length. However, this smaller length means the car will be going against some difficult competition like Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and Kia Seltos.
In terms of its engine option, the car will be available in 2 engine options, first being the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing upto 120hp of power and 150Nm of peak torque and second being a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing upto 163hp of power and 230Nm of torque, making the car the highest power and torque producing over its competitors. Both the variants will be available in both manual and automatic transmission variants.
The pricing of the car can be expected between Rs 9 to 15 lakh which might give its rivals run for their money. MG is also planning in making the content localize so as to reduce the cost of their cars.
