MG Hector has had its fair share of success and was even once the best-selling SUV in the Indian market. The car is sold in a total of 5 variants, namely Style, Super, Shine (recently introduced), Smart and Sharp. However, MG now had discontinued the Super trim of the Hector which has its fair share of limitations but to replace it the company will soon be introducing new Savvy trim in 2022.

The Super trim which now is discontinued was available in both petrol and diesel variants however the transmission was only limited to a 6-speed Manual gearbox which was a part of the reason for the decision. Although in terms of features, the Super trims included all the necessary features like a large 10.4-inch tablet type floating infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, rear AC vents, LED light at front and rear. In terms of safety, the car came with front and rear parking sensors, seatbelts, reverse parking camera, ABS with EBD and ESO, traction control and much more. This all came at a price tag of Rs. 14.17 lakh for the petrol and Rs. 16 lakh for the diesel variant.

Talking about the engine, Hector is offered in 2 engine options first being the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which can generate power up to 143 hp and the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which can generate max power up to 170 hp. These engines are coupled with either a 6-speed MT or a CVT automatic transmission.

As of now, MG is preparing for the launch of the petrol variant of the ZS EV which will be called MG Astor which will be going against some of the segment-leading rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, the newly launch VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
