Hyundai Alcazar is the new big thing coming to the Indian market, which will be launching this week on 18th June although the car was originally meant to be launched in the beginning of last month however due to the covid 19 health crisis this event was pushed further back twice. Unlike every 5-seater turned 7-seater car the new Alcazar was presumed to be a 7-seater version of the best-selling Hyundai Car, the Hyundai Creta however these rumours came to an end when the company officially revealed the exterior and the specs of the car a few months back. But as the car is coming near its launch, the rivalry is slowly heating up between some cars in the same segment and one of the stronger competitors the car will be locking horns against will be the MG Hector Plus. So, let the fierce comparison begin of these two bad boys.
MG Hector Plus Vs Hyundai Alcazar Engine Options comparison
Starting with the most sought for specifications of cars is the options of powertrain the company has to offer. Here the competition is a bit iffy, with one exceeding the other in 1 case and the tables turn in the second half.
As these cars come in both Petrol and diesel options, we will be separating them likewise. And starting with the petrol engine. If looking at the capacities of the engine the Hyundai Alcazar might have a clear advantage over the Hector Plus, however, the Hector does come with a turbo engine unlike the NA engine in the Alcazar, which will give the hector more torque but will have suffices with less power.
Car | Hyundai Alcazar | MG Hector Plus |
Engine | 2.0-litre 4-cylinder NA petrol | 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol |
Power | 159 PS | 143 PS |
Torque | 192 Nm | 250 Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT | 6-speed MT, 6-speed DCT, CVT |
And as for the Diesel engines, performance-wise there isn’t much of a competition between these two as the Hector Plus comes with a large 2.0-litre engine compared to the 1.5-litre one in Alcazr which will also make the Alcazar produce less power and torque in comparison, but the biggest downside of the Hector Plus is that the diesel variant only comes as an MT unit whereas the Alcazar enjoys options of both MT as well as AT units.
Car | Hyundai Alcazar | MG Hector Plus |
Engine | 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel | 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel |
Power | 115 PS | 170 PS |
Torque | 250 Nm | 350 Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT | 6-speed MT |

MG Hector Plus Vs Hyundai Alcazar Comfort and Safety Feature comparison
The interior of the upcoming Alcazar will be quite identical to its 5-seater sibling, Hyundai Creta and will most likely be coming with a 10.25-infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, BlueLink connected car tech, air purifier, Panoramic Sunroof, ambient lighting, Bose premium audio system and much more. as for the safety features, the Hyundai Alcazar will likely be getting an electric parking brake with auto-hold function, multiple airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, Electronic Stability Control and much more.
While talking about the comfort features on the MG Hector Plus, which will include a 10.4-inch vertical tablet-like touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, LED Head, Tail and Foglamps, ventilated front seats and much more. as for the safety features the Hector Plus comes with ABS with EBD, 360-degree camera, heated ORVMs, rear disc brakes and much more.
Verdict
MG Hector can be considered the winner here, the car comes with a better-powered engine, is more feature-packed and has been in the market for quite some time, however, the factor that matters here is that MG has a Chinese tag on in which is a no-no for quite a large population in India while on the other hand the Alcazar has the advantage of Hyundai’s market presence and the trust of the company which will make quite a big difference here in the sale and that is what matters the most.
