MG Astor finally launched in the Indian market with prices ranging from Rs 9.78 lakh and offered in four variants.

MG Motor India today finally launched Astor in the domestic market, with an aggressive price range starting from Rs 9.78 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs 16.78 lakh for the top-end trim. Bookings will commence in India from October 21st, 2021 and the deliveries will start from the first week of November. Although, due to the global shortage of semiconductor chips, for this remaining financial year MG will only deliver around 5,000 units of Astor till December 2021. The 5-seater 4.3m Mid-Size SUV will rival Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Nissan Kicks, and Renault Duster. MG Astor comes in four variants – Style, super, smart, and Sharp. The features list is below for better details.

MG Astor is the essential version of the ZS petrol model which was in global markets for a year and a half now. While, if take a look at the design and styling it looks very attractive and has an amazing road presence in comparison to its rivals. At the front, Astor featured a massive celestial grille with a big MG corporate logo in middle. On the side, it comprises, windmill-inspired machine alloy wheels R17 dual-tone along with red brake calipers. While as for safety Astor comes with standard 29 safety features along with 49 features remaining depending on variants chosen. All four tires are mated with disc brakes as standard for increased safety.

As for performance MG Astor comes powered by a two-petrol engine – 1.5 Litre naturally aspirated Viti-Tech petrol which develops 110 PS of maximum power and 144 Nm of peak torque. The second is a top-end variant engine 1.4 Litre turbocharged 220Dynamic generating 140 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. The powertrain options for 1.5L petrol are 5-speed MT and an optional CVT, while for turbo engine it offered only 6-speed Automatic transmission. The former engine has a 48Litre fuel capacity and the latter engine has 45 liters of fuel capacity. The suspension duties were performed by McPherson strut at front and torsion beam at the rear.
