The most awaited car since the past 2 years has been the Maruti Suzuki Jimny which although is exported to other counties but haven’t made its way into the Indian market. The Suzuki Jimny was recently spotted in Mumbai in the 3-door avatar without major camouflage, though the car had a white taping for the top half but it didn’t leave much for the imagination. Earlier this year some leaked images also surfaced about the car roaming on the streets.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny was first showcased back at the 2020 Auto Expo where it was said to be launched pretty soon however the delay kept on piling and it almost has been 2 years and still there is no confirmation date for the launch of the car. According to the Senior Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at Maruti Suzuki India, Shashank Srivastava the company is still in the process of analysing whether the car will be a successful asset to the company by customer feedback.
Suzuki Jimny is currently is in production at the Gurugram plant where the car directly gets exported to many other counties where the car is in markets. Although the Suzuki Jimny spotted here in Mumbai is a 3 door version but the company earlier only announced that they currently only planning to bring the 5 door version Jimny to the Indian markets.
The car is hoped to be making its way to the market in the coming year and if it does, then there won’t be any direct rival in its price segment of lifestyle vehicles however if talking in lifestyle segment without price considerations then the upcoming Jimny will compete against the largely popular Mahindra Thar and the not so successful Force Gurkha.
