Mahindra MPV Marazzo and KUV 100 NXT likely to discontinue in the later months due to very less demand, and replaces it with electric eKUV100 in early next year.

  • Mahindra MPV Marazzo and KUV NXT discontinue in later months
  • Mahindra more focuses on more sale bearing segments
  • It’s been also reported that Mahindra won’t be making any smaller passenger vehicles

According to the recent reports emerged on the internet, that the homegrown UV manufacturer likely to discontinue its entry-level SUV and MPV, KUV NXT, and Marazzo from the Indian line-up. That being said, it is done due to very low sales volume coming from both the passenger vehicles over the year now. Last year, Mahindra showcased the 1.5 Litre turbocharged petrol engine Marazzo at the 2020 Auto Expo but now the plan is to be abandoned. The brand now focuses more on new volume-bearing segments for India like bigger SUVs with more powerful engines.

Mahindra only sold 21 units of the KUV NXT and 71 units of Marazzo in the last calendar year. However, being a capable spacious MPV with a great price range, Marazzo failed to develop decent sales numbers since the launch. Mahindra Positioned Marazzo between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta and was launched back in September 2018. While the figures of Marazzo were good back at the time of launch, it sold 3,800 units in its first full month and reached the 20,000 units milestone within seven months of its official debut in India.

However, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta is still the first choice for many Indian customers. While the Marazzo showcased back in last year’s Auto Expo with 1.5 Litre mStallion turbocharged engine, it will be used by the upcoming XUV500 5-Seater codenamed as S301. Mahindra also revealed that they won’t be making smaller, SUVs, hatchbacks, and sedans as they stick to their traditional route towards making the larger SUVs. The KUV NXT will be coming back in its electric avatar named eKUV, which was showcased in the 2020 Auto Expo with a claimed range of 147 Km on a single full charge.
