South Korean manufacturer Kia has launched its first-ever electric vehicle EV6 in its home market, which is based on E-GMP architecture.

Kia has launched its first electric sedan EV6 in its omen market in South Korea. The New electric vehicle EV6 will go on sale in select global markets later this year. the manufacturer also received over 30,000 pre-bookings for its first EV6 in south Korea. Although, the combined pre-bookings in Europe and the USA have already gone past 8,800. The Kia EV6 is priced from 47 million won to 57 million won (around USD 40,800 to USD 49,500), and government subsidies in South Korea will lower down the price to 40 million won.

While Kia hoping to retail over 13,000 units of the new electric sedans in its home country and around 17,000 around the globe this year as stated by local news reports. Kia EV6 is built on a Hyundai Motor groupe E-GMP electric vehicle dedicated platform. This platform also underpins recently unveiled and launched Hyundai IONIQ 5. EV6 features a cross-over design theme, has a boxy stance but with a sloping rear section. The LED tail lamps stretch from end to end uniquely. The front LED headlamps on the other hand are sharp and sleek with an aggressive front profile.

As for performance, Kia offered EV6 with two battery options – 58 KWh and 77.4 KWh. The standard battery is good enough to develop a claimed range of 370 km in a single charge, while the long-range battery unit develops a claimed driving range of up to 475 Km. Depending on the variants selected the vehicles can be had with wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches. On the top end trim EV6 GT, it offers with painted brake caliper as well, which looks extremely beautiful and sporty. While the sister brand Hyundai planning to launch two new EV’s – IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 7.
