Kia has been on its A-game when it comes to SUVs, with only 3 cars in the Indian market Kia has been gaining plenty of popularity, especially for its SUVs Sonet and Seltos. Although, the company is in no mood as for now to introduce any new car in the Indian market but is readying some new variants for their on-going cars, like the Sonet is getting a 7-seater makeover, while the Seltos is going to get a new top-end Gravity edition, and to add to this Kia has also announced the Seltos will be getting a new iMT variant in a few months.
For those who don’t know what iMT means, it is basically a clutchless Manual gearbox, which means that this new variant will only carry 2 pedals, one for a break and the other for speed but will also include manual gear shifting.
This 6-speed iMT gearbox will only be available with the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of generating a max power up to 115 hp and a max torque of 144 Nm, which will be available with 3 gearbox option 6-speed MT, CVT and iMT. With this addition the Kia Seltos will now be available in a total of 7 variants first being the normal 1.5-litre Naturally aspirated petrol engine with 115 hp power, with 3 gearbox option available, then a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine generating 140 hp of max power, that is available with 2 gearbox options 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. And lastly, the 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is coupled with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Kia Seltos is one of the best-selling SUVs in the market if not the best, which only gets outnumbered in sales by its Korean cousin Hyundai Creta, however with a pretty high margin.
