Kia motors the South Korean company and cousin of Hyundai Motors today announced its sale figures for the month of March 2021. The South Korean company sold a total of 19,100 units last month which translates to a Year on Year growth of 122.53%, when compared to its March 2020 sales figure of 8,583.
The company sold 16,702 units in the month of November 2021, which then translate to a Month on Month growth of 14.36%, however, due to the massive sales increase of Hyundai Creta, its cousin has suffered a tiny Indian Market share loss of 0.1% which went from 6.1% in March 2020 to a slight dip to 6.0% for March 2021. However, the company is only behind three other companies Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors, which for a company that entered India not so long ago is a big achievement.
Till now the company has enjoyed a good amount of popularity in the Indian market, with only three of its cars currently in the Indian market; Kia Sonet, Kia Seltos and Kia Carnival, the former 2 being mid-size SUVs and the latter being a low production premium MPV. Amongst these models, Sonet enjoys the most popularity the reason being a compact SUV segment tag and very aggressive price tag.
To further continue this upward trend Kia is planning to introduce a new facelift version for the second most popular SUV of the company as well as for the Indian market, Kia Seltos. This facelift will introduce some additional features to the car along with a major update of the panoramic sunroof which was missing earlier, unlike its cousin Creta which also comes with a panoramic sunroof. Alongside this Kia is also planning to introduce a new mid-size MPV which will be coming towards the mid of next year and will lock horns with its competitor the Mahindra Marazzo, with the same engine type as Hyundai Creta.
