Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced its sales data for April 2022. The South Korean automaker posted commutative domestic sales of 56,201 units last month as against 59,203 units during the same month last year with year-on-year negative sales growth of 5%. The Cumulative sales fell by 3000 units while the Maruti Suzuki also recorded year-on-year negative growth.
In the domestic market, Hyundai managed to sell a total of 44,001 units in April 2022 as against 49,002 units during the corresponding period last year with a year-on-year volume drop of 10.25%. However, on the export front, the second-largest car Baker in the domestic market poster year on year 12,200 units worship against 10,201 units. This led to a volume increase of close to 20%. Hyundai introduced the Alcazar midsize 3-row SUV last year it has been well received by the customers in India. The brand is currently working to launch a host of new facelift models to inject refreshed the domestic market, especially the highly popular SUV portfolio which includes Hyundai venue and Hyundai Creta.
The company recently announced that the IONIQ 5 electric vehicle will debut in the second half of 2022 in India. It will follow the launch of its sibling Kia EV6 in the coming month. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the 2022 world car of the year and it’s on a dedicated E-GMP skateboard architecture. In the global market, the IONIQ 5 is offered with 2-battery options rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. It adopts a unique retro style inspired 45 EV concept and is expected to show limited numbers upon its arrival. The next big launch by Hyundai is expected to be a heavily updated venue compact SUV and it’s been spotted testing many times on the Indian roads which lead to launching very soon.
In addition, the updated Creta will be more likely to follow later this year while the speculation surrounding the 4th generation Tucson also could be launched in the coming months as the test module has been caught testing a few times already in India.
