It is the comparison of the family products as KIA and Hyundai are almost the same, although Hyundai is not the parent company, Hyundai holds 1/3rd of the total shares of KIA so Creta vs Seltos is like a fight between brothers.

Hyundai Creta is the most successful SUV car of the year 2019 as it sold about 1Lakh unit in India and is still on the charts as the top 5 in 2020 with its new facelift version. On the other hand, KIA Seltos which was launched in 2019 and has made and broken many records since then and has been the best-selling SUV for quite a long time in India. Here we are going to compare the top-end models of either of the cars to see the best that these cars can offer.

Dimension comparison

Comparing both the models side by side we can clearly see in terms of size or dimension Seltos is a tad bit bigger than its competitor with getting a size increase of 10 to 15 cms on every end.

Looking at the design of the car I would give an edge to the KIA Seltos which displays a modern look with features you can’t see anywhere else in this segment like vertically fixed fog lamps in a chrome housing, headlamps with their own DRLs, and much more, on the other hand, we can see the Creta comes with the quite old SUV like look which isn’t bad but it is too ordinary in a time where looks matters.

Interior comparison

The interior of both the cars are far apart and which one you prefer depends on your style like in KIA Seltos it packs a lot of features and buttons but sometimes you may feel like driving a spaceship with everything given but the Seltos comes with a soft leathery finish that will make you feel quite premium.

Now if we look at Seltos’s cousin Hyundai Creta here everything is kept quite simple and feels quite ergonomic but the drawback comes with the material used in Creta is plastic which in some parts is a good quality plastic but in places like the top of the dashboard and the door panel you can see the cheap shiny plastic. The part where Creta excels is the touchscreen which is a 10.25-inch display that is placed below the vents.

Both the cars have good and similar features in the seating department where both the cars offer leather finished seats with same power adjustment, but here Creta’s seats feel a bit softer and a bit wider than may feel more comfortable for all body shapes.

Looking at the rear both the cars have similar leg space but Creta’s seats offer more leg support and a better angle for the back in addition to small headrest cushions for better comfort. Creta’s sunroof is big and also covers the back seats whereas Seltos comes with a smaller sunroof.

Features comparison

The most interesting segment to look for in a car is its feature segment, where you will find a wide range of features that some of you might not even heard of, and for these cars, it’s the segment to shine ahead of the competition with both cars providing feature you might only see in luxury cars front seat integrated cooling system,10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting for the interior, voice command system, tire pressure monitor, and a lot more.

Here the competition is neck to neck where each car providing features that you would not find in the other like the Creta boasts about its panoramic sunroof, steering integrated paddle shifters, and parking brakes which are missing from the KIA Seltos. However, Seltos has many tricks up in his sleeves that the new Creta cannot comprehend like 360-degree surround cameras, front parking sensors, a head-up display, automatic water sensing wipers, and telescopic steering adjustment. There is no clear winner in this segment so the final decision depends on the buyer’s choice.

Engine spec. comparison

Both the cars being very similar in size, design and performance also have same engine specifications, transmission systems and power options however, do they feel the same while riding them?

Both of these cars have their highs and lows, the new Hyundai Creta may feel a bit more comfortable as the Creta has added absorption layer to the ride, a lighter steering and smoother gear shifting although, Creta does has more body roll so might feel a bit rough in some situations.

However, KIA Seltos has its own league when compared to the feel of the car where the Creta might feel a bit smooth and light on handling, Seltos will show you how a balanced car should feel with a good body weight distribution, having a sporty feel and overall feeling of completeness. The only missing peace to this almost complete puzzle is the paddle shifters, which if were provided it would have been complete.

Our verdict

This was a comparison of the kings where is Hyundai Creta has ruled for a long time and KIA just remains an inch behind. Both of these cars provide you with top notch performance and top of the line feature with one or the other trying there fullest to throw down the other but every time the difference remains of a few inches where some time we saw Creta race ahead and other time Seltos. Our conclusion now give the crown back to the longest living mid-size SUV king The Hyundai Creta with winning just by margin of a hair with exceeding in comforts features and providing a smoother performance.
