Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India last year launched their much-awaited Hornet 2.0. the bike launched as the replacement for CB Hornet 160R, which was discontinued after the launch. The Hornet 2.0 cc becomes the most premium Sub-200 cc bike in the 180-200 cc segment. The bike will compete in the 180-200 cc two-wheelers segment space. That being said the bike will compete against bike brands like, Bajaj, TVS, and other manufacturer bikes that are similarly priced.

As shown in the table, Hornet is 30 mm longer than Pulsar NS 200, while Pulsar is 21 mm wider, 9 mm taller, and has an 18mm larger wheelbase. Although, Hornet weighed 142 Kg and has a 14 Kg weight advantage over Pulsar NS 200 (156 Kg).

Honda Hornet 2.0 powered by a 184.4 cc 4-stroke single-cylinder air-cooled motor engine which rated as 17.3 HP of power and 16.1 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 5-speed gearbox.

While Bajaj Pulsar NS200 offers a bigger engine, 199.5 cc single-cylinder 4-stroke SOHC liquid-cooled DTS-I engine which produces 24.5 PS of maximum power and 18.5 Nm of peak torque, While the transmission is the same as Hornet 2.0 5-speed gearbox system. The Pulsar NS 200 drivetrain is way more powerful compared with Hornet 2.0.

Hornet 2.0 loaded with advanced technology features like LED Headlamp, large fuel tank extension, digital instrument cluster, flat piece handlebar, and so on. Braking duties performed by front and rear petal disc brakes, coupled with single-channel ABS.

Pulsar NS 200 offers a telescopic front fork with an anti-friction bush, along with a rear Nitrox mono shock absorber. The braking setup includes 300mm front disc and 230mm rear disc brakes.


Honda retails New Hornet 2.0 with a starting price of Rs 1.30 lakhs which goes up to Rs 1.34 lakhs (Repsol edition). Bajaj Auto retails Pulsar NS 200 with a base price of Rs 1.34 lakhs. (All the prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 is the flagship bike from the brand and already been in the Indian market for over a decade, Pulsar Already made its name in the market. On the other hand, Hornet 2.0 yet to make their name, as it also legs in comparison with power. So, let see how the future for Hornet 2.0 stands off as for now Pulsar NS 200 beats Hornet 2.0 in performance and power aspects.
