April 2021 hasn’t been the month for India and all its industries, as the nation suffered from yet another corona crisis and also become one of the worst-hit countries from this pandemic and also the lockdown being imposed yet again which has led to many industries being shut down. And if talking about the automobile industry, which is now on its way to repeat the year-old scenario of 0-sale. The American company Ford is amongst the more severely hit automobile companies. The carmaker registered a massive de-growth in its sale last month, with all of its car registering a negative MoM growth. Talking about the worst hit, amongst the Ford cars, the Ford Figo was the loss for the company as the model only sold 1-unit last month and registered a -99.54% MoM growth compared to the sale of 219 units which were sold in the month of March 2021.
The least hit by this pandemic was the Ford Freestyle which managed to sell a total of 635 units in April 2021 compared to the sale of 689 units in March 2021, translating to an MoM growth of -7.84% which when compared to Figo is much better. You may be wondering why not compare the YoY sale? The reason for it is the 0 sale in April 2020 which happened due to the nationwide lockdown imposed, so comparing the sales of a month with no sale won’t be fair.
Talking about the Ford Figo, which is available in two powertrain options, first being the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine, which is capable of generating a maximum power up to 96 PS and a maximum torque of 119 Nm, and secondly, a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which is capable of generating up to max power of 100 PS and a max torque up to 215 Nm.
