Datsun is a Japanese brand and a sister company of the Nissan Motor India Private Limited. They are the Subsidiary of Japanese Automaker Nissan Motor Company. Datsun was founded in 1931 but the name was phased out by Nissan in 1986 and relaunched in 2013. Dat Motorcar co. named one of its small segment cars as “Datson” in 1931. And in the next year, Nissan occupied Dat and renamed it to “Datsun” as we know it today. Since then, the company is known for its smaller cars and Nissan uses the name for the same. On the other hand, its parent company Nissan Motor Company was founded in 1930s and is headquartered in Yokohama, Japan. This company also has Infiniti, Nissan and Datsun brand under its name and is known as Nissan Group.

Datsun India : About company and line-up

Nissan entered in India in 2005 and relaunched their brand Datsun in the Indian market in 2014 with the launch of Datsun Go. Nissan has the headquarter in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and a production plant in alliance with Renault where the Go model is being manufactured. As per its name, Nissan introduced Datsun for the smaller segment cars while simultaneously launched their own name brand for the above segments. These brands are completely owned and controlled by the Nissan Group, Japan. In 2010, Company in alliance with Renault inaugurated their first manufacturing plant in India. Since its launch, company brought many vehicles in the Indian market. They have been manufacturing all their models locally which are being sold in Indian market.

Currently, Datsun has a line-up of only three vehicles with their branding. They are popular for their small cars packed with a lot of features. Most of these cars are class leading spacious and offers quite the features, safety and the powerful engine at such affordable prices.
