The year 2020 has been interesting for the automotive industry with sales reaching almost zero in the lockdown period and then steadily performing better than the last year 2019. This year many companies like Hyundai, Mahindra, and many others introduced their best sellers in an updated avatar like Creta, i20, and Thar. And because of these new versions of their best sellers companies ended up with a fruitful last quarter of the year.
Let’s now look at December top 5 ranking automobile companies
At number 5 we have the sister company of Hyundai and the new entry in the Indian auto industry Kia motors selling a total of 11,818 units in the month of December. All Kia cars have done pretty well in the market except the MUV: Kia Carnival which performed fairly poorly compared to Kia’s other model.
At number 4 we have the company known for its heavy-duty vehicles Mahindra. The company got quite an attention on its launch of the Mahindra Thar which gave the company a decent boost in the last year and managed to sell a total of 16,182 units in the month of December.
Next in line, we have the favourite Indian brand: Tata motors with a sales number of 23,546 units sold in the month of December. This year has been great for the company with the car like Altroz and Nexon performing pretty well and giving a positive sales chart.
At the runners-up position, we have Hyundai the company which has performed very well this year compared to the last year. With the launch of facelifts like the Creta and i20, the company made its year-end sale quite worthwhile while with a total December sale of 47,400 units sold which was a bit low when compared to its November sales.
Maruti like always has retained its dominance over the Indian automobile sector with the December sales reaching a total of 1,40,754 units. The sale numbers of Maruti are far ahead of its competition. The difference between Maruti and the runners-up Hyundai is more than thrice.
