Bajaj Auto and Pierer mobility AG’ planning on making fully-electric two-wheelers for the Indian market and starting with Husqvarna first Electric Scooter.

A few weeks ago, after the Bajaj Chetak electric Scooter launch the Managing director, Rajiv Bajaj, of Bajaj Auto, confirmed that the Chetak Scooter electric vehicle platform will be used by KTM and Husqvarna to develop their own performance-oriented electric two-wheeler for the Indian as well as for the foreign markets. While, as per reports on the internet suffering that the first electric two-wheeler product from the brand could a Scooter just like Chetak.

A new report on money control suggests that AG Pierer mobility and Bajaj Auto strengthening their electric two-wheeler market, and the first of many products go on sale in 2022. The Pierer Mobility AG and Bajaj Auto is the parent company of KTM and Husqvarna. The two companies being working together for 15 years, and have been building performance-oriented brands like KTM and recently Husqvarna motorcycle for sale as well as for exports in the global markets. Now as more brands are going towards eco-friendly mobility both brands looking to use their alliance to make battery electric two-wheelers, which will be produced at Pune, Maharashtra plant.

Both the companies planning to launch new electric Scooters, electric Mopeds, electric bicycles, and electric motorcycles. However, the first electric two-wheeler from the brand is likely to be Scooter. The alliance companies developing a common 48 Volt electric two-wheeler platform with power ranging between 3 KW to 10 KW. As of now Bajaj sole Chetak electric two-wheeler, powered with an IP67 rated 3 kWh lithium-ion battery packed, which paired with a 4-kW electric motor. The EV comes with two riding modes, Eco and Sport, the former gives a riding range of 95 Km and the latter provides 85 Km of riding range in a single full charge. Bajaj retails Chetak EV in two trims Urbane and premium, priced at Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.15 lakh ex-showroom respectively.
