The 3rd gen Volvo S60 will be launch in early of 2021 (January to march), it made its global debut in 2018 June in other countries. The new Volvo S60 will only come with one engine option which is 2.0Litre turbo petrol. Originally the S60 was launching in 4th quarter of 2020 but due to global pandemic it can’t happen so now it will be launched in India in early 2020.

The Volvo car India Managing director also confirmed that it will be a petrol model only, and will come with only one engine one trim level. The engine with 2.0 litre turbo petrol four-cylinder unit that’s available internationally in different states. Power output range from 190hp for the front wheel drive, turbo petrol T4 all the way up top 390hp for the T8 twin in plugin hybrid model. The T8 combines with a 303hp, supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine driving the front wheels with a 65kW electric motor powering the rear wheels. An 8-speed automatic gearbox is standard on all variants. Volvo is expected to offer the lower-powered S60 T4 version in India, using the same engine that powers the XC40 in India.

The previous or old gen S60 was based on flooring of ford derived platform and was on sale in India from 2011 till it was discontinued in July 2019. Where as new gen S60 is based on SPA (scalable product architecture) platform and has received a 5-star safety rating from euro NCAP

Other than that, with the launch of S60 following in months Volvo will be launching their XC40 Electric car in India
