This is the fourth generation of the Skoda Octavia, which was first launched in Prague, Czech Republic back in 2019 November and carries some minor changes to the exterior and interior as compared to its previous-gen model. As confirmed by ZAC Hollis, the Brand Director Skoda India, the new 4th Gen Skoda Octavia will be making its debut in the Indian market sometime in next month.
However, the original launch of the car was first planned on 1st April 2021 but due to our country’s condition which is going through the second wave of the pandemic, and is amongst the top 2 worst-hit countries by the virus, it was postponed to a later date, however, the production has already begun for the car in April at the Maharashtra plat.
Talking about the changes in the new Octavia, the car now comes with the Skoda signature butterfly grille which is now heavily chromed outline and does carry black vertical slats, a sharper and sleeker LED headlamp design that also consists of the LED DRLs, the front bumper also gets a new design and comes with black bezels at the edges. The wheels also have been modified to bigger 17-inch alloy wheels.
For the rear, the car gets a new-fashioned tailgate with a set of new tail lamp design and a reprofiled rear bumper. The Skoda Octavia is built on the heavily localized MQB platform and comes with a single powertrain option of a 2-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that can generate up to max power of 190 hp, which is coupled with a 7-speed Dual-clutch automatic transmission gearbox.
Talking about the rivals, the Skoda Octavia only has 1 opponent after the discontinuation of the Honda Civic, which is the Hyundai Elantra.
