Volvo is all set to launch its Electric SUV version of its Volvo XC40 which will be making its debut in mid-2021. The XC40 EV will be the company’s first electric car that will be introduced in the Indian market for which the booking will commence from June 2021 and deliveries for it will begin October onwards.
Design and Dimension of the 2021 Volvo XC40 EV
The new 2021 Volvo XC40 EV is very similar it its standard petrol counterpart with very minimal changes like the normal Volvo mesh grille is replaced by a sealed grille type and the normal petrol tank refuel port is replaced by a charging port.

Powertrain specifications and features
This EV car will be powered by two motors (one on each axel) which will be drawing power from a 78kWh battery, combining both the motors the power generated will be of 408 hp and a max torque of 660 Nm, with a sprint time from 0-100 of 5 seconds with a max speed of 180 kmph. The battery can be charged via 2 methods – 11kW standard DC Charger and a 150kW DC fast charger capable of charging the car from 10-80 in just 40 minutes. Talking about the features the car will be getting all the same features as its petrol counterpart like front and rear heated seats, a large infotainment system which is solely an Android based system and many more features. For the safety aspect the car gets some standard features like multiple airbags, 360 degree parking camera, ABS with EBD and much more.
Talking about its competitions the Volvo XC40 EV will be competing against the likes of Mercedes Benz EQA SUV in the international market, however, upon launching India the car won’t be having any competition in the luxury EV SUV segment.
