  • New-Gen polo in making and production could be done locally

Volkswagen has released a teaser image of their premium hatchback facelift model of Polo, ahead of its global debut on April 22, 2021. This teaser comes at the launch of SEAT’s new facelift model of Ibiza recently and both have a lot of things in common. The 2021 Volkswagen polo digital teaser image showcased some newly designed LED headlamp clusters with a new front bumper. The Mid-Life update will help the manufacturer to expand the life cycle of the seventh generation of polo.

The 2021 Volkswagen polo gets a newly designed bumper with LED Strip at the bumper, accompanied by a Volkswagen logo mounted in the middle of the bumper. It also gets the sharper Bi-LED headlamp. It doubles up as the LED running strip is integrated with the Headlamp cluster. In the teaser image, you could also see a purple body color. The illuminated LED Strip also be seen in the bigger siblings Golf R and it will also have redesigned rear bumper and revisions to be done on the LED taillights, newly designed Alloy wheels, and so on. If the 2021 Ibiza is anything to go by related to polo it could feature the same powertrain option as well.

On the inside cabin the updated polo likely to have a bigger infotainment system, new leather upholstery, latest car connected technology, voice recognition, newly designed dashboard, and center console, and so on. The Facelift SEAT Ibiza and updated polo will give rise to the facelift version of the Skoda Fabia as these cars are based on the same MQB A0 platform while with the same powertrain option. Volkswagen is also planning on bringing the New-Gen polo on a heavily localized MQB A0 IN platform. Although, as the major brand Volkswagen focusing on launching new SUVs especially for the Indian market like Tiguan, Taigun and parent brand Skoda Kushaq, the new polo could be at least many years away. It could be based on the eighth-generation polo which is in the works for the global markets.
