BMW India has yet another launched new product in the Indian market and continually strengthened their Domestic portfolio. Before this, the brand has launched 3 series Gran limousine, 2 series Gran Coupe, X3 M, X5 M, and 2 Series Gran Coupe Black Shadow. The 3 Series Sedan line-up expanded with a new M340i which sits at the top of the line for 3 series, and the first M Performance model to be assembled locally at Chennai, Tamil Nadu plant. The brand will produce more locally produce products to attract more customers with an aggressive price range. The big difference between M3 and M340i is the maximum power output. M340i powered with a 3.0 Litre 6-cylinder inline twin-turbocharged petrol engine, which is capable enough to develop 374 HP of maximum power and 500 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, M performance M3 produces 510 HP of maximum power, in comparison with M340i, 136 HP more. M340i paired with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission gearbox system, the power is transferred to both the axles through an xDrive AWD system. At the global level company retails M340i with rear-wheel-drive configuration, and it gets, M sport differential, M sport, exhaust, etc.
M340i comes equipped with 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with the latest iDrive tech, LED headlamps, LED taillights, Auto climate control system, fully digital Instrument cluster, Ambient lightning function, reverse parking camera, steering mounted control, gesture control, and more. It will be interesting to see how M340i performs for the brand in the domestic market in terms of sales volume, as BMW will continually launching more entry-level products and increase their Indian market portfolio.
