In the latest round, recently launched the new generation of land rover defender SUV secured at perfect 5-star crash safety rating at euro NCAP.

At the latest round conduct by the Euro NCAP under campaign #safercarsforeurope, the newly launched land rover defender being tested and secures a perfect 5-star rating. The Defender 110, 5-door larger version right-hand wheel drive was tested. Therefore, the safety rating is only applicable to the engine option and trim option for defender 110 only. The land rover Defender 110 is brought in India through the CBU route, so the ratings are applicable to models available here in India as well. Defender 110 scores 85% for both adult and child occupant protection out of 100.

In the adult occupant tests, it scores 32.5 out of 38 points, in which 15 out of 16 points for lateral impact, 3.8 out of 4 points in a rear impact, and 2 out of 2 points in the rescue and extractions category. The main points that the defender lost were in the frontal impact category scoring 11.7 out of 16 points. Now, coming to the child occupant protection test defender 110 scores 41.7 out of 49 points. Out of which, it scores 24 out of 24 points in a crash test, 10.7 out of 12 points in CRS, and 7 out of 13 points in the safety features category.

Other than these, Defender 110 scores 38.4 out of 48 points in vulnerable road users. The main reasons for losing so many points were the poor protection provided for pedestrians at the frontal edge of the bonnet. At last Defender 110 scored 12.7 out of 16 points in the safety assist system category. Land Rover Defender 110 powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder petrol engine, which brought out 300 Hp of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque. The 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox is used as standard. Also, defender 110 is equipped with an all-wheel-drive configuration and air suspension as standard for 110 all trims. Defender price ranges between Rs 73.98 lakh – Rs 89.63 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
